Hand lettered designs to inspire hope & laughter.
Fact: I’ve always loved fonts and lettering.
In high school we were required to cover our textbooks (Do high schoolers still have to do that? Do high schoolers even have textbooks anymore? Lol.) and thankfully, after the first day of school, my mom would always help me cover them. We would use brown paper bags from the grocery store and then she would take a Sharpie marker and write the title of the book in really cool letters. I always admired how she could make the letters in different fonts.
I would try to copy her letters and they didn’t look as cool, but I’ve always enjoyed cursive and doodling…you know the typical girl writing her name a million times on a paper. 😉
Well, until about six months ago, that was the extent of my lettering abilities…until I was completely inspired by a woman in Australia who was using a watercolors and a brush to make these amazing letters on Instagram. After a few of her video posts, I though I’d like to try. I wish I had a picture of my first try. BAhhhh. My first attempts were horrible! But it was so relaxing and fun so I kept at it. And now I think I’m in love. Okay a little dramatic I know, but really I love it! I still have so much to learn, but I’ve hit a point where I have made some things that I’m really proud of. I’ve also hit the point where in order to keep up this little hobby/love of mine I need sell some of my work. (a.k.a. I have too many finished projects cluttering the house and I need new paints.)
I’ve had a handful of close friends ask for some custom orders and I’ve truly had a blast making them some special things for their home. And now, I’m going to take a little “leap of faith” or I’d really like to think of it as a “leap of fun” because it is just that, fun! So I’d like to invite you to pop over to my Etsy shop!
Items listed right now include:

Lettering has been inspiring and really mind-blowing because you can letter anything! The possibilities are endless. I’m excited to try new projects and techniques. In fact, yesterday I found something that I can’t wait to get started on.
Oh, and I almost forgot to mention where the name for the shop comes from…
“You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.” Deut 6:9
The Lord commanded Israel to write his words literally on their doorposts and in doing so reminding themselves to write his words on their hearts. They were to keep his commands so close as to never forget his faithfulness to them. We too can use literal writing in our homes to remind us of God’s love and his words of hope to us. We can be reminded of his will for us now and of his promised return! In naming my little shop Doorpost Design Co. I want to inspire hope and laughter wherever my little designs make their new home. 🙂 Not every print will be scripture but many will contain a word of hope or something to remind you to enjoy today.
Thanks for your support! You guys are the best.
Singing His Grace,
