My little soccer girl.
Today she said, “Mom, I like the practices better than games.”
I’m so glad she’s making a sweet little friend on her team.
We four, three little and me pretending to be big, rubbing sleepy eyes as we go out to meet the day.
We round the bend of the road that curves downward and join the busy street alrady buzzing with cars on their way.
And then the sky breaks forth and our view expands to streams of purple and pink. In the distance a hazy evidence of mountain peaks and we all exclaim at its beauty.
“It’s a new day!” I say. “Everything is fresh and new, we get to start all over. This day has never been lived before, it is up to us to live it.”
Little ears soak in the invitation to this adventure.
This 24 hours is for us.
Yet, my words are more for me than for them. My heart lightens with the gift that is given. The gift of today.
And so I eek out these feeble words so that you too may see the gift, but more importantly the Giver.
This is my prayer in the desert
And all that’s within me feels dry
This is my prayer in my hunger and need
My God is the God who provides
And this is my prayer in the fire
In weakness or trial or pain
There is a faith proved
Of more worth than gold
So refine me Lord through the flames
And I will bring praise
I will bring praise
No weapon formed against me shall remain
I will rejoice
I will declare
God is my victory and He is here
And this is my prayer in the battle
When triumph is still on it’s way
I am a conqueror and co-heir with Christ
So firm on His promise I’ll stand
All of my life
In every season
You are still God
I have a reason to sing
I have a reason to worship
This is my prayer in the harvest
When favor and providence flow
I know I’m filled to be emptied again
The seed I’ve recieved I will sow
Whether you are in the desert, in the fire, in the battle, or in the harvest…in EVERY season we have a reason to sing!
