I was in my own little world, not having to think about ANYONE ELSE. Yet, despite my self centered attitude, I was actually able to help two women…One needed help reaching her Oatmeal Crisp Crunchy Almond on the top shelf, the other spoke Spanish and needed help understanding something while checking out. I don’t think of myself as a particularly tall person, and I certainly don’t speak very much Spanish, but I was able to use what little I had to help. This is community. This is why we need each other. I was reminded that we need to ask each other for help when we need it, and we also need to be readily available, with an outward focused attitude, to help those around us. These two situations literally fell into my lap, but I’m sure if I looked a little harder I would see other simple ways to help someone out. There are also times when I need to ask others for help.
Just a quick thought today, I hope you find yourself blessed by someone’s help or blessed by the opportunity to help someone this weekend!
