So every time we drive by Bruster’s Ice Cream stand (Which is just down the street from us, so we pass it alot!), Caroline points and yells “Avy, Avy, Avy!!!” I still haven’t figured out exactly what word she is saying, but I’m pretty sure I know what she means. They sure learn fast!

My favorite season always seems to the next one that is approaching. In winter I love spring, in spring I love summer, in summer I love fall! The season change gives me something to anticipate, and activities to look forward to, swimming, sledding, pumpkin picking, and puddle jumping. Now that it is officially fall (though it hardly feels like it) I am excited for apple cider, the first fire in the fireplace, wool sweaters and scarfs, trick o’ treaters, mums on my front porch, apple crisp, and colorful leaves. There’s something about the smell of each season. I smelled fall the other night when we were driving with the windows down, someone must have been burning leaves, because this glorious burnt, crisp smell filled our car. Though the air was still warm the smell alone made me want to snuggle into a soft fleece jacket. Perhaps also what is great about fall is it seems to mark the beginning of what will eventually turn into (rather quickly) the holiday season. Not long after all the summer toys are put away on Labor Day, the fun and festivities of harvest, pumpkin carving and such, creep up. Before you’ve even raked all your leaves, kids in cute (sometimes creepy) costumes are knocking on your door. Then relatives are near to watch a parade, share a feast, and cheer on a team. Fall then officially comes to a close, yet nobody notices because Christmas is coming! …But wait it’s not even October yet! Fall slips away quickly so slow down and enjoy each autumnal (fall-ish) momement before all the leaves are gone, and the grass is brown. Before the air is too cold, and the sun too low in the sky.
Yep that’s right! It’s a blitz of a trip to the city with four of our friends. We’re leaving tomorrow morning and will be home late Saturday night. The only set plan: A New York Yankees game on Friday night. Otherwise the city is full of endless options and fun to be had by all! I am excited that I will get to see my sister and bro-in-law who just recently moved there. Also, I’m looking forward to spending time with my hubby. Caroline will stay with Aunt Wendy and Grandma, we will miss her so much, but she will have plenty of fun without us. (I just hope she sleeps.)
